About Us

After dedicating more than 9 years to The Painted Camel Gallery,  Paul and Carol Jean have stepped back from their ownership. The Painted Camel has been an important part of the revitalization efforts in downtown Macedonia, exposing rural Pottawattamie County to the arts, and of course helping regional artists sell their work. This was a difficult choice, but they are excited to help with this transition and focus more time on creating art through Pottery by the Creek.  Through collaboration with participating artists, the Macedonia Historical Preservation Society, and Rebecca Castle Laughlin with Golden Hills RC&D, The Painted Camel Gallery is transitioning to a non-profit cooperative gallery. This transition is being assisted by grants from the Iowa Arts Council, Iowa West Foundation, and Community Foundation for Western Iowa.  All current artists have been invited to remain and we are hoping to include additional artists as well.
